Spotlights

Throughout these spotlights the Chicanx, Latinx, and minoritized folks are featured. The work of these individuals work promotes, exemplifies and creates language (with a special emphasis on the Spanish language). The aim with these spotlights is to expose teachers and students to a wide range of Chicanx, Latinx and minoritized folks/representations who have been doing the active work of uplifting minoritized and stigmatized languages across the world. We hope that this representation along with the designed lessons will inspire, value, and empower Chicanx, Latinx and minoritized teachers and students in every grade level. Each spotlight has been carefully chosen and includes activities for students and teachers to engage in. While spotlights have been included in lessons that directly relate to them or their work, it is encouraged that teachers explore spotlights featured in other lessons and use these spotlights as a rough guide to including other Chicanx, Latinx and other minoritized folks that they would like to feature in their classroom lessons beyond language.
